St Patrick's PS

A class of P7s from Holywood were up at the pastoral centre. Their light shone brightly as they shared talents with us, we were treated to flute playing, earnest prayers and enthusiastic drama.
Focus
Today we realised that God is always everywhere with us. In our focus we decided to show God in the sky, the sea, the sand and the hills. He will be with us always.
 Music
The flautist played 'The Star of the County Down' and an Irish air. We also picked 'You've got a friend in me' because this shows the relationship of God, Jesus and us. We chose 'What a Wonderful World' as we are so lucky to live in a wonderful world.
Scripture
The scripture Matthew (5:14-16) means to share with others so we will share our light with every person.

Prayers

Reflection
We chose the title 'Hands of God' because we were going to put our hands on the poster as God's hands now on earth.

St Columbanus College Yr 13-14

We were joined by  Year 14  and Year 13 RE students from St Columbanus' College.
Tuesday 27th November '12

Music
'Let it be' was chosen, as we all like to have someone we can call on when we need a little help.
'Man in the mirror', we need to look at ourselves and change our ways before we can change others.

They made spirals exploring their image of God and its impact on their lives.
Scripture
The scripture used today was taken from Mark (8:27-29) 'Who do you say I am?' Helping to discover who we really are and what image of ourselves we present to other people.

At the Prayer Service, each of the class was invited to think of someone they would like to pray for, write the name on a slip of paper and attach it to the Prayer Ring. This ring was sent back to school to be added to throughout the year.
Each person wrote a letter to themselves. These letters were to contain memories of today and hopes for the future, attitudes they would like to develop to help themselves and those around them. The letters will be sent to the school in the new year.

Thursday 29th November '12
Yr 14
Music
We chose 'Firework' by Katie Perry because it represents the good times and the bad. At the end of all the bad there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
'You gotta friend in me' was chosen because we're all mates and will be there for each other.

Scripture
We choose this scripture because everyone deserves a chance and we don't know why people are the way they are.

Prayers
Dear God
I would like to take a minute for those who are less fortunate,
especially coming up to Christmas as it is a time for giving,
by coming together as a community to raise money
to ensure the Third World countries have a happy Christmas.
Amen

Dear God
We pray for the happiness and joy of our classmates.
With your help we hope we can achieve everything we desire in life.
We pray that you guide us through the stressful period of our exams.
Amen

Dear God
We pray for our loved ones who are deceased but who we still
think of and cherish our memories we shared with them everyday.
Amen
Reflection

 Friday 30th November '12
Focus
The river symbolises the journey we have taken today. The dove symbolises the sign of peace, God will bring peace to our lives in the future. The sun symbolises the light and warmth that God gives us in our every day lives. The stone symbolises difficulties we may face in our lives. The candles symbolise the important points of  our journey today.
Music
We chose 'You've got a friend in me' because we should all be friends and there for each other through good and bad times.
'The Climb' was chosen as life is a challenge, you encounter many challenges and ups and downs, but faith will see you through all times, good and bad.

Scripture
'Judging others' Matthew (7:1-2)
'Love for enemies' Matthew (5:43-45)

Prayers
Dear Lord
Thank you for being with us in our good and bad days.
Look over us and give us strength for our up coming exams and any difficult time we are facing.
We thank you for friends and family.
Amen

Dear Lord
You are the one who watches me fall and helps me to get back up.
When I feel or stand alone you are there and give me luck.
If I forget what you have done, know I will never turn my back.
For you are the Lord Almighty, you are the one who we adore.
If I ever question my faith, know I will believe in you.
Amen
Reflection

There's no point waiting on someone else to do something.

One kind word can make a difference.

Glengormley Integrated PS

A small but eager group arrived from Glengormley. Though few in number, they were each involved in all aspects of the prayer service and were able to complete what usually takes a full class to do. That really was a dream team!
Focus
This focus has many different parts. The flame represents the light of Christ. Our hands show that we have to bring Christ to others. The other cloths represent the wind. When you're ever sad day or night Jesus will be with you. The Lord sees you every day and when you're sleeping at night.

Music
We chose 'One Love', as your one love is God and God is always in your heart.
'You've got a friend in me' is all about friendship, your heart and the Holy Spirit working in your heart.

Scripture
Matthew 5:14-16

 Prayers
Dear God
Take care of all the people who are weak and ill.
Help them to recover from their diseases and injuries.

is as loving and caring as mine.
Amen

Dear God
Please take care of all animals and humans and
I thank you for all the things that you give me.
Amen

Reflection
We chose the 'Dream Team' heading because when we work together we are showing our light to each other.

St MacNissi's PS

St MacNissi's P7s came across the city to the pastoral centre. It was a bitingly cold day though some boys braved the elements for a 'kick about' at lunchtime, while the girls stayed cosy indoors.

Focus
We chose the tree as our focus because people are flying the kites and the Holy Spirit is the wind of God.
Music
We chose 'Firework' .With the light of the Holy Spirit in you, have confidence and be a ball of fire, let it SHINE!
We also picked 'You've got a friend in me'...the Holy Spirit is your friend. Your family is your friend. Your pet is your friend. God is your best friend.
Scripture
Matthew 5:14-16
Prayers
Dear God
Thank you for getting my mummy better and
guiding the doctor to get it right and
keeping my mummy healthy.
Amen

Dear God
We pray for our friends and family.
Help those who do not have as much as we do
or might not be in good living conditions.
Amen

Dear God
Thank you for blessing me with my wonderful family, friends and pets.
I loved my previous pets very much but they weren't mine, never were.
They were always your creatures.
Thank you for giving me the privilege of raising those beautiful animals.
They were truly part of my family.
Amen

Reflection
We chose the phrase 'Let Your Light Shine' because our parents said to us at our Service of Light, 'Keep the light of faith burning in your life'.
