The Year 8 Boys from St Mary's CBGS joined us in Glanaulin and brought great liveliness to the centre! 

8th October 2012

Focus

We chose this candle and dark night sky to represent God lighting up our world.

 Music
'True Colours' Cindy Lauper. To look at yourself before criticising others.
'One Love' by Bob Marley. we chose this song because there is only one love, God to build up our love together.

Scripture
Noah (Genesis 7:9-22).We chose the story of Noah's Ark because we thought there must have been a lot of teamwork getting the ark built. Often we need to work as a team.

• today was relaxing when we were meditating. It took all the tough thoughts out and put nice ones in.
• today was interesting because we learned new things about God and got to know more of our classmates
• today was fun because we played football, but it was also fun because we were connected to God.
• today was all about caring about God but also caring for the class and to make better friendships with others that aren't your number one friend.

We chose the fish to symbolise friends of Jesus, because his friends were fishermen.

We chose the story of the Roman centurion (Luke 7:2-10), because it shows the great faith the centurion had in Jesus.

The arrest of Jesus (John 18:1-11). We picked this story because it shows the different type of friends we can have. Judas was a traitor, Peter was brave and John was cowardly. Jesus shows us that he forgives his enemies.

Could you please watch over and protect people in need that don't have the luck I do.

A Reflection Rap

Today we came here to learn about caring,

Kindness, love, wisdom and sharing. 

We talked about God, life and creation.

After break we did some meditation. 

When it was lunch we played skipping and football. 

We came in and had a ball.

We made this because it shows Jesus loves us all, no matter what.

Focus

We made this focus to represent God's creation. The bottom is the grass, sand and water. The darker and deeper ocean and the word God, a bird in the top right hand corner and the rainbow at the top.

'You've got a friend in me'- God is our friend therefore we should be everyone's friend.

'You've got the love'- We should  love God and everyone.

Zacchaeus ( Luke 19:1-10) We picked this story because we thought it would be a good story to tell and shows how God can change people, as well as being friends with people who are not popular.

Focus
Love! We chose love to represent the burning flame of God's heart.

We chose 'You've got a friend in me' because its about friendship and companionship and we have all started school and are making new friends.
We chose 'Let it be' because if you have a problem in school, it will get sorted eventually.

Scripture
We picked 'Love for enemies' (Luke 6:27-36) because it shows you that you should never hate anyone and you should always be forgiving. It shows that no matter what anyone does or says, you should never hold a grudge against them. Even those who mistreat or hurt you, you should always pray for them and treat them as you yourself want to be treated. Love.
